I want serious ignition performance on my 90 300/6. I am willing to spend basically anything -$300. What are the best plugs? Wires? I want to replace rotor and cap. Should I use Ford rotor and cap or does somebody else make better rotor and cap? What about the coil?

I would go with MSD all the way: MSD plug wires, MSD 6A, MSD adjustable timing box, MSD coil; then put in splitfire or platinum plugs; put in the large cap and rotor to help eliminate crossfire. However, some folks like Jacobs better, but whatever you go with, purchase the entire ignition set under the same label.

slik: I was curious about the MSD ignition coil, does it help even with a factory ignition?
Im affraid you will deffinitely go quite a bit over the $300 dollar mark,if you opt for the MSD set up.The Ignition module alone for an MSD 6AL is about $275.If you go with the Jacobs it should be close to $400 complete.I use the Jacobs in my Jeep and its a very high quality ignition, and produced noticeable improvements in low end torque, which is what i was looking to achieve. In my Ford though I use an MSD set up,"This is a seriouse ignition",but it gets very expensive for a complete set up including, billet distributer,in cab timing controls, etc. The ignition modules can get up to around $700 dollars depending on what you are trying to achieve.I agree that you should stay with a single manufacturer for your set up.Many of the High Performance Gurus, choose to mix and match there set ups using the best components from each manufacturer, but they are,(or should be)very knowledgable on the characteristics of the individual components, and what they are trying to get in terms of performance from each one.The problem with mixing and matching if you arent very familiar with all the components is that you lose some of your ability to use the tech depts of the manufacturers since they wont help you much if you arent using all of there components,it may even void warranties.Later,

Slik,
What motor were those parts for? Ive noticed that the MSD6 have come down in price over the last few months. The prices for my 460 were quite a bit more,I realize a lot of the parts are almost identical from motor to motor. This was about 4 months ago.
Its an expensive set up but with the Kenne Bell Supercharger,a very strong ignition was highly recomended by the Installer. It works great,I have been running Bosch Platinum 4 Spark plugs.
