Ingo, Welcome to the board. Sorry to hear your having hinge troubles. Have you tried looking at the online catalogs from places like LMC, Dennis Carpenter, MACs Antique auto, or places like that? They might have a parts breakdown of one of those beds.
I'm sure someone will come along here shortly and be able to help you out. There are numerous knowledgable gentlemen (and I use the term loosely) with trucks like yours on this site.

Good luck
Bobby

This is a scanned picture from the NPD catalog showing the hinge on a bed.

The hinge and tail light bracket are sandwiched on either side of the rear post socket by (2) 1/4-20 bolts, washers and nuts.

Hope this helps .

Second that vote!

Ingo welcome to FTE. I spend sometime in Bamburg back in the 70's. Great country I enjoyed the October Fest very much.

Tim - Inquiring minds want to know what "kind" of relatives you're talking about. . And no more tlaking about officers. I'm an enlisted type by nature.

Ed - That goes for you, too!

Tailgate Chains & Brackets

Hello,

now i found out what was wrong ;-) someone changed the position of the Taillight brackets so the tailgate couldn´t fit.

But now i have one more Question :
has anyone an F100 between 53 and 56 to see how the Original Tailgate Chains & Brackets exactly works, becuse i am going to buy this but i don´t know how it fits / works ? Please can you send me some detail pics.
Tanks

best regards Ingo

Ingo -

I would be glad to send a picture IF my tailgate still used the chains. Can you post a picture of your setup in your gallery?

Ed- I was born in Bamberg Germany. Small world. I didn't think people knew where Bamberg was.
Ingo- Here goes.

I just ran that through a translator web site and those aren't very flattering remarks about Randy Jack. Of course, the site was free so something was probably lost in the translation. This has international incident written all over it.

Sorry Ingo, but like many here, no chains on my 54. I wonder if the 1/4" hole I have in the square tube is for the end of the chain? My neighbor has a stock chain on his 56. If I remember, I will go by and check it out. Jag

LOL... I thought some of you would like that. Here's the real translation (I think?)
In my opinion is that most people in here don't run chains because they scratch the paint and aren't practical. I've seen a lot of people purchasing the chrome arms and latch like the one Randy Jack showed in his picture. The chrome latches and arms are cheap and easy to install. I have them on my 56 and he could see pictures of them on my truck.
