engine swapping
I have a ealry 90's super duty with a 460 and I was thinking of swapping it out to a 6.9 diesel. I'm looking for experiences, so as easy swap bolts right in, can't be done. I seems like a straight forward swap, but you never know, hence the discussion

Not so easy, but it could be done.
Transmission has to change, it will not bolt up.
Fuel system has to change completely.
The insturment panel will not work, no computer on the 6.9.
Wiring would need some changes, but they would not be to bad.
Cooling system will have to change most likely.
Get a donor truck that has the engine and all the other things you will need.

I already have a donor truck and intend to swap engine and tranny, I may have to change drive shaft length and I know there will be gear ratio issues but I'll live if the mpg goes up. but its a good reminder that I need to keep the parts truck till everything is running. Its happened that I sent the parts vehicle away then needed a part which I had to buy back. Fool me once, I hope not again
