i have a 95 bronco. is the front dana 44 standard or reverse rotation. i am putting 36 inch tires on it, is a 4.10 gear low enough? what is a good mail order site to get the ring and pinions?
With 36" tires the 4.10 final drive will equal a 3.53 based on the 29.5" original tires. A 4.56 ration will give you optimum operation on and off road with 36" tires and yeild an actual final drive ration of 3.83, again based on comparison to original tires.
what are you plans for this rig. will it be offroad alot, towing alot? since you have an OD tranny i suggest a 4.88 front/rear if running that size tire. the front D44 is reverse rotation and will also require a new carrier for those gears so dont forget that. www.completeoffroad.com has great package deals . i priced them out for gears and install kits etc.. for $400 shipped.
whats wrong with the carrier? i am in high school so i drive it daily and tow a light trailer of lawn mowing equipment. mud and mild trails off the road
Go to www.4wheelparts.com for your ring and pinion. I'm going through them to get mine. If you install lockers too, you wont have to worry about the carriers.
4wheelparts are a bunch of asses. they dont know crap, have bad CS .
the front diff has a carrier break meaning stock it will only fit a gear of 3.92 or less so to get lower gears like 4.10's + you need a new carrier. i dont suggest a locker up front unless you wheel more then DD
i wasnt planning on lockers until later on... im on a high school budget. i was gonna get a detroit out back and a truetrack in the front, but now i may have to reconsider.
