im putting power steerinhg in my 71 f-250, but the gear box is from a 78. i was wander ind how much the couplings run for, along with the bracket for the power steering pump, the pump is from a 76. i also put a new steering colmn thats from a 77. do all these different parts match up?
Justin, If the coupling your talking about is the rag joint (little rubber disk) between the collum and the gear box, they can be had at your local parts store for under 10 bucks.
I'm not sure what to tell you about the pump brackets. It will depend on the engine. What engine do you have?
The parts you have will bolt in, but there may be some minor rewireing for the collum to make your turn signals and horn work correctly.
Mike
The column for manual steering has to be changed when converting to power steering, there is a couple of inches difference in their lengths, seems like the manual column is the longer one.
Yes that is correct the manual collum is longer. You need to make sure your 77 collum is for power steering. If you need to know the correct length, give me a yell. I have 2 collums in the garage for power steering.
Doc.
the colmn is 40 inches long i need one about 36 to 34 if im right. but im headed down to the salvage yard right know to get a colmn. if they dont have what i need ill give ya a yell doc. thanks
