Amsoil is Great...

Hi everyone. I logged on (as I have been infequently I admit) and yet again got automatically admonished for not having posted in a while. Guilt. I have a jewish mother and as it turns out a jewish webmaster . So, I decided to post especially as the last sentence in the admonishment was not to be afraid. So I will venture with my thought.

I know that people get upset when amsoil dealers ect start lengthy threads that start with extolling the lubricating properties of their product and advance to the concept of world salvation through amsoil. However, at times these threads become very entertaining and might I say even energizing. I believe that the lubrication section has been a bit sluggish recently. Is there anyway to have, say, an amsoil debate day? A small window of opportunity for amsoil posts to be allowed woud be announced. We could build up to the 'day' (or days) where polite yet enthusiastic and aggressive debate could take place. At the end of the time period, the threads are locked and we get back to busines as usual.

I would liken this to my rationing my son's (8 yo) watching WWF on TV. To much of course would rot his brain. A little is fun. Just like amsoil.

So you see, my point about amsoil as stated in the title is I believe true. Amsoil is great at starting heated debates. If you don't agree with this, well you can debate that issue with me via this thread. As far as the lubricating properties of amsoil, I am in no position to comment. I am far from an expert and have been using motorcraft 5/20 syn blend with good UOA results.

The issue has been rehashed on here so many times, it's pathetic. I see no reason to restart old arguments that just get people banned and threads locked.

Amsoil is an MLM company and therefore the salesmen do not follow rational thought. The reason is they're trying to sell stuff. I see no reason to open ourselves up to their unpleasantness (dont want to bump language filters...) again.

They sneak in often enough on their own. No need to poke the wasp nest.

Amsoil posts are allowed ANYTIME, just not by dealers or distributors.

As far as the lubricating properties of amsoil, I am in no position to comment.
Amsoil makes a good product, most think it's way overpriced for what you get, but it gets the job done. A few who have experience with the product say that the cold flow properties of their engine oil is second to none.

advance to the concept of world salvation through amsoil

You see, within a half hour of my post, there were 9 views and 2 replies. One of which was strong in opinion as not to allow any amsoil dealers on this site. Remember, my intent is to generate debate, not necessarily discuss oil. Is this allowed?

By the way, much of what I hoped to accomplish was a little levity. I never imagined that amsoil is into supplements. I guess it makes sense: make a car run better by putting stuff into it/ make the car owner run better by putting stuff into it (him/her). As Rush would say, you can't make this stuff up.

It says, in the FTE forum list, right under the Oil and Lube forum link:

"NO MLM Dealers, Wholesale Buyers Or Retailers allowed."

Amsoil is an MLM, or Multi Level Marketing company. As such, they are not allowed.

It's not just my opinion. I've been around here long enough to see this rule enacted, and WHY it's been enacted. Trust me, you dont want it to go away.

One doesn't need to be associated with Amsoil, or any other company, and if so, said person should be free to post about Amsoil.

i see this thread going downhill fast, why would you want to debate amsoil if you want that go to BITOG it is filled with the amsoil fleas. the rule here on fte is in place for that reason over at BITOG you can't post one thing with out a Amsoil dealer trying to sell you lube or a bypass oil filter and you never get to the answer you needed you just try to fend off the dealers they are very annoying since i signed up there the dealers have got my email address and i now get 5 emails a day from these people.

Okay, sorry I upset anyone. I actually only wanted the message that I should post to stop when I logged on, and it has. I did not mean to upset anyone. I was trying to interject a little humor and I guess I failed. I will stick to my day job (not comedy) and stop posting for a while.

As long as daniel5522 is not associated with Amsoil or any other MLM company in any way, then he or she is free to post on the subject. On the other hand, if it becomes apparent that this is just another creative attempt at an "end-around" of the FTE guidelines, then the matter will be addressed in the usual fashion by horsepuller and/or the FTE administration.

FWIW, I actually learned something from this thread: that Amsoil is now in the human supplement business! It seemed kinda weird when I first read it, but after thinking about it a moment, I realized that nothing has actually changed much, since Amsoil has always been in the supplement business. All Amsoil really does is take some Mobil 1 basestock and add in their own blend of "vitamins and minerals", usually in super heavy doses in order to keep the TBN numbers up longer (so that longer drain intervals can be claimed, which helps them to try and justify the huge price markup).

But wouldn't it leave a bad taste in your mouth (if there wasn’t one already) to have an Amsoil salesperson pitching you their motor oil at one moment, and then after you say "NO" for the 8th or 9th time, they immediately shift gears and ask if you would like to try their new “nutritional supplements”?

At some risk, I'll participate in the attempt at levity here......

You want to hear one of my favorite jokes?

AMSOIL!

At least all the MLM crap associated with it.
Vitamin supplements !?
You gotta' be kidding!
But, I click on the link provided and TA DA!!
Right there in front of me: (from the "Health Division of Amsoil" ??)The "WORLD'S BEST" everything to make my innards run a billion miles. Just like my truck would if I only used Amsoil.

Well Rocky, the stuff doesn't work that great in cars, they might as well see if it works in humans!

Vitamins and the like have been MLM mainstays for a long time. Shaklee and Amway distributors were everywhere 20-30 years ago. Along with the cleaning supplies, nutritional supplements seemed to always be in the product line. There was another MLM company that had "vita" in the name got into legal trouble more recently.

Amsoil threads are like tabloid journalism. You know it's all fiction, but you look at it just the same!
