I just developed a leak on my Super Single II Weld rim. It is the third one out of the four to develop a leak. Weld replaced the first two (Under Warranty). The third is now out of warranty. I got to say I'm pretty pissed off. I will never buy a two piece rimagain (and probabynot a Weld rim either). I have been gettingthe run around from weld for a week now still without any help. I am hoping they atleast give me a brak on a new rim.
I had Welds on my last truck. Never had any leaks. They were SS series outbacks. I felt that they didn't balance as well as the stock wheels and keeping them polished was a PIA. I'm happy with the Ford chrome steel wheels...for now. Where are they leaking from? I had steel valve stems in mine with rubber grommets on both sides.
Here are my experiences with wonderful WELD WHEEL INDUSTRIES. I will never buy another set of wheels with their name on them. Here is some good reading material for you guys.
That is one scary story. I have not had a chance to find the leak yet because of work. I leave thursday morning out of town. I hope to get the whell to a garage tonight. I will post the outcome (where leak is and help, or lack of, from Weld).
I had two pieces on a chebby once...and one did leak...for a temporary fix, I used that fix a flat stuff...It was a slight crack at the weld....I dont remember if mine was warrenty or not, but they fixed it
The rims are not stock. They are super single II's made by Weld Racing. They are 2 piece rims and I bleive this latest leak like the others is somewhere along the weld.
Simple Solution: Purchase another wheel or set of wheels from the offending company, but use your VISA or MasterCard. Then wait a short while and return the old one. If they give you any grief, wait until the charge comes through and deny the charge because the product was defective and they would not accept the return. It is up to the merchant to pursue the issue. Keep the new product like new should you need to return it. Using a credit card offers the consumer a lot of protection. This is kind of a shady way to use it, but all is fair in Love and War, and they were trying to screw you. Not sure if that is Love or War…
I was able to get ahold of the Customer Service Manager. He is sending me a "Reconditioned" rim for $120.00. I'm not thrilled, but at least I got some help.
No Idea wher they are made. I purchased them in Chatsworth Ca. I have made contact with a guy who is a Aircraft welder and has suposedly fixed many rims that have split at the weld. He removes most on the original weld and then re-welds it. It costs about the same as my reconditioned wheel. I might do this to finally have a spare. On that note, does anyone have experience with mounting a 35" spare tire in the original spare location?
