C-6 length

Ok, I posted about doing a tranny swap beforehand...I've got an 88 F150 4x4, standard cab, 8 foot bed. I pulled the Mazda 5 speed out this morning.....what a joy that was...but it's out, and it should be easier to throw a C-6 in there....but I have a problem. after I pulled the 5 speed out, I compared the two trannys for length...the 5 speed is roughly 29 inches long, where the C6 is around 26 inches...I thought I would have a problem with bolting the transfer case shift linkage to it, but I see that there are 3 holes in which to bolt it to a trans...the auto has the bolt holes closer together than the 5 speed does...My question is this...Will the difference in length make a huge difference in connecting everything? I know I have some room to play with the rear driveshaft, but not a lot with the front one, and will my linkage bind up since the transfer case will be closer to the front than it was originally? I guess the easiest thing would be to have someone measure the tranny in thier truck and let me know...I don't want to bolt this up, and find that it won't work....
As far as the 5 speed? It's toasted....The very front gear on the lower shaft was shredded....oh well.....Thanks guys, sorry for the long post...

C-6 length

Mine is a 351 if it makes any difference, the C-6 is about 25-26 inches long from bell housing to transfer case and my front drive shaft is around 33 inches (give or take). I would think the front must have some extra room to because other wise the lifted trucks would need a longer drive shaft.
I hope this helps,
Mark-

Thanks Mark...Ya, I found that what I have to do is find a F series 4x4 that has a C-6...won't matter if it's a 150, 250 or a 350....I found the rear driveshaft is about an inch longer, I'm guessing the front driveshaft will have to be shorter, and the linkage for the transfer case is 3 inches shorter....Now to find one in a yard somewhere....
