carb'd 302 to FI 302 swap?

Just bought a 1969 F100 Shortbed with a 302 and C-4. Im thinking about switching out the engine and tranny with a fuel-injected 302 and AOD tranny from a 1990 Crown Victoria. I know I have my work cut out for me with the computer, sensors, wiring, fuel routing, etc. Does anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences that they wish to share? Are there any issues regarding compatibility with the driveshaft, shift linkage, etc. I should be worried about? Any replies are appreciated...

I have never done this, but understand that keeping the linkages together is critical. The driveshaft end will likely have to be changed.

You will have to use the computer and sensors to run the FI system.

Run the AOD behind a carb engine and things will be more simple. IMHO

i've done one conversion and a transplant...converted a 83 f150/351W to 88-89 ford efi speed density and transplanted a 5.0 ho into a 81 ford fairmont. the book by charles probst covering ford eec-iv efi from 87-93 is worth every penny spent. one part of the swap people over look is the fuel system...my truck has dual tanks and you have to get fuel to the rails at approx. 40 psi for efi systems. i used stock tanks, from salvage yards, in my truck (with in tank pumps) and a high pressure pump on the frame. you also need return lines to get fuel back to the tank. i spent about $2200. it was well worth it, the truck runs great and ford efi is not that difficult if you have the right information. cheers, garsten

Ford sells a booklet that tells you how to do the swap. It tells you what sensors you need to keep, where to cut and splice the harness, the whole deal. It goes for about $6.

Does Ford sell a booklet regarding swapping it's new OHC motor into an older truck?

If my 240 is locked up in my '71. I've thought about making the swap.
