Hyya, I have an 81 f100, with a dead 300. I have
found a 90 300, and the only apparent difference
is the fuel injection vs. my old carb. Would like
to keep the fuel injection right where it is, but
would like to know how much of a wiring change
is involved. Are these two sixes interchangable
at all? If the fuel injection is impractible in
my 81 frame, will switching manifolds work? This'll be my 3rd six in this truck, but the rest
is in good shape, and the 90 motor is cherry,
dirt cheap, and is intact under the hood. Any
advice/info would be greatly appreciated!!!
You should be able to swap the engines with no problem as long as you take all the computer wiring from the donor truck. It is my understanding that you will also need to change out the fuel pump to a fuel pump in your gas tank.
for the fuel pump, rob the high pressure pump from the donor truck and purchase a universal one to feed the high pressure one.you may also have to plumb a fuel return line back to the tank.
