Radiator has had a very small leak since december and ive been checking and keeping the coolant levels topped off. Since its summer my dad reccommended i go ahead and replace it while i have the money. Yesterday i went to the local napa and paid 135 for Modine with a lifetime warranty, and i bought the upper and lower hoses.
Just wanting to know if Modine is a reputable company and any last minute tips/pointers for the swap. Thanks in advance.
Drain the coolant (duh)
Unbolt the fan shroud and hang it off the fan.
Disconnect the upper and lower hoses.
Unbolt the radiator at the top (2 bolts)
Pull it up & out.
Top notch. I've had a nice three core that's oversized comared to the stocker that was in my '79 for three or four years now. If you got the exact replacement, your hoses should work. If you upgraded to a bigger size, you may need a different upper hose.
Buy hoses with the coiled wire in them. You should probably change out the thermostat while you're at it. Flush the old one with some hose water to clean out the block prior to putting your new one in.
Very smooth swap, im happy with it. Good thing i replaced those hoses, the old ones were hard as a rock and starting to crack. We replaced the thermostat when i first bought it so thats good. Thanks guys.
