OK, I have a 95 F-150 with a EFI 4.9l in it, I want to use a 351 or 460 carbed motor, so my question is, what all will work on my dash? will the temp., oil pressure, etc. gauges still work?
I know the tranny and engine mounts will have to be changed but what else?
Any information from you all that has preformed this swap (I know it has been done 1,000's of time's) will be appreciated!
What do you have against EFI? The gauges should still work, but the oil pressure gauge is just a dummy light, operated by a pressure switch. It would be better to buy a real gauge for both oil pressure and water temperature if you really want to know the conditions of the engine. If you have an E4OD transmission, it will have to be changed to a non-electronic automatic or you'll have to buy a stand-alone controller to keep it (for the 351) and would be swapped anyway if you go 460.
EFI is to expensive for what I do with the truck, I only use it off road. I was planning to go with more gauges but would like the ones on the dash to work still but its really no big deal I guess.
I am going to use a built up C 6 transmission for the swap.
Where can I find a conversion kit with motor mounts, etc? I have a 351 out of an 88 Bronco that I am putting in it, I would rather buy a bolt on kit than have to weld it all in.
