I have a 04 6.0l F250. The tranny started slipping in reverse then moved to slipping in 4th and 5th. I took my truck to the local ford dealer and was told that there was a recall on the reverse planetary and that all would be fixed under warranty. When I got my truck back(with the rebuilt tranny) I noticed that my truck was MUCH slower than before. On the work order the only thing noted was that the tranny was pulled and rebuilt. When I got home and opened the hood to check the tranny fluid , I noticed a ford sticker on the radiator support. It read 4u7a-bfe with auth#00509. Could my truck have been reflashed? If so, Does ford have the right to do this without my permision?
It was, and yes they do b/c it is considered an "upgrade". I got the same flash recently when they were TRYING to fix my surging problem and have noticed that my previously fixed turbo lag is back and as bad as ever and that there is a delay when shifting, like it is thinking about whether to shift or just go to neutral for half a second. I too got the BFE flash and we all know what BFE is for and that's where I feel like I am with trying to get this truck running right for more than a month at a time. You have to specifically demand that they NOT reflash you computers if you go in for a problem and then they can refuse to TRY to fix your truck b/c you won't let them do what they think will fix it. (New programs are ALWAYS the fix you know)
thanks, my truck does seem to have picked up some of those traits from the dealer with this flash. Turbo lag, slugish shift and just darn slower. I have always bought ford trucks but I have been very unhappy with the way that ford has been handling fixing my truck.(I know you cant really blame ford directly but the are the ones coming up with these flashes that just plain suck)
