Tailgate window

On my 1990 Bronco the back window stopped working right after I installed a brand new window motor. I traced all the wiring and it seemed like there was no power to the motor. So just this weekend I took the top off then removed the window. But right after I removed the window and started driving around I decided to push the rear window button on the dash and I could hear the motor working! When I checked the tracks were going up and down. What could have made the sudden change in the motor working and not. Is it just having the top on that make it not work or what? Any help would be great. Thanks alot

The first thing to check is to see if the tailgate is closed all the way. I had the same problem for over a year...but I know that the tailgate was not properly closed. So a took off the back access panel and reversed polarity with a battery charger. This brought the window down. I then opened the tailgate and greased all the appropriate parts. Closed the tailgate again and viola! Window works. There is a safety mechanism that will prevent the window from rolling out when the tailgate is down...thereby preventing window breakage! Put the window back in and try it again...make sure you grease your gears and even the striker bolts.

PS. took my top off this weekend too! It is great owning a Bronco!

Mine did not work after the increased friction of new wiper strips. After greasing everything else I finally greased the two tracks attached to the bottom of window and that was it. It works great now. The ends of the two register arms slide left to right in the tracks. Removed access panel and raised window to get to tracks.
