Parking Brake question

My wife drove around 4 miles with the parking brake on in our 2004 f150 Super Crew. By the time she realized she left it on, she could smell the brakes. Should I be concerned that she glazed the brake shoes/pads and change them out?

Before getting too involved in tearing things apart, try applying the parking brake and see if the vehicle will move if left in neutral, and see how much fuel you have to give it to get it to move. If it doesn't move all that much, chances are the shoes are still OK. If it rolls easily, the parking brake assembly is located behind the brake rotors on the rear axle, and looks like a mini drum brake assembly. You'll have to remove the wheels, calipers, and rotor in order to check their condition.
