Have any of you ever had Dippin Dots ice cream? The first time I ever had them was about 2 years ago at a fair, and in fact it was the first time I had heard of them. Then on the Food Network a couple of nights ago, they went to the factory and showed them making the Dippin Dots etc. Pretty facinating, just wondered if you all had heard about them or not.
No, but if you ever have a chance to try an It's-it, do it. Invented at Playland at the beach in SF in about 1924, as a sandwich with 2 oatmeal cookies with vanilla ice cream in the middle and the whole thing flash frozen and dipped in chocolate.
Yea....I first heard about them, and had a cup of them at the local A or AAA baseball stadium around here. They are very, very good....but too expensive.
I really love dippin dots. they're spectacular. But I think if they brought them to us at a lower price, their sales would grow exponentially. They're out of my price range and only get them when dad pays at the state fair.

Mmmmmmmmm....
I remember those "It's It" ice cream sandwiches from Whitney's Playland at the Beach. They were and are still good. They're still in business.
Invented in Southern Illinois by a guy who was a biology major at Soutehrn illinois universit and it was some sort of method for cryogenic freezing of I think cattle sperm that led to the invention of the dippin dots ice cream. Somethng about the moisture from the process froze in the shape and allit was was ice crystals but they froze very hard.
No dippin dots is not cattle sperm. My brother in law actually knows the guy who invented them.
I love dippin dots, I have them when going to a fair or something like that. Last year our school threw some sort of party, and dippin dots were free.. good times.

part of the high cost of Dipin Dots are due the cost of storage and handling. they must be maintained below -20 degrees, if they get any warmmer than - 5, it is pretty much time for the trash. They have there own cases which are set to run down to -40.
