cv joints

Anybody know if you can buy just the inner cv joint on a 97 150. I broke the innner cv on the passenger side and just wondered if it is possible to buy just that piece or if you need to buy the complete unit. Thanks.

Hey buddy, there are replacments boot for them, but i'll tell you from experience replace the whole shaft. You'll sepend a couple of hours taking the half shaft apart and tring to put the ball bearing and the c-clip and the lub all in the boot. For a $120 for a new or re-manifucred shaft its worth it. If I was you I would just hand the core in for a new one!!!!!

That is what I was thinking. Much easier and lot less swearing by just replaceing whole thing. Was just hoping that it would be an easy fix to do the half shaft.

I agree, IF dust gets in the boot it starts eating the bearings, and wearing them down. Depending on how long the boot was tore and you drive it the worst it will be. New complete units come with new bearings and innards. I have heard cvc joints still clacking even after the boot and grease replacement because of wear.
