You bet they do. In my area east of me they have a truck pulling association which is dominated by 73-79 Fords. These are modified trucks definitlybut some really hot trucks. One 79 is the most beautiful truck Ive ever seen. A two tone purple an gray. That thing has power you wouldnt believe. Hes been number one in his class for years against some stiff competititon. Another guy has just a stock 75 I believe with a 460 in it. I never seen a guy run a truck harder then that one. Hes in the top 3 in his class most off the time. Other Fords pull as well. A few Chevies an a couple Dodges but way more Fords. I think Fords make great pulling trucks. The 460 is an ideal motor for pulling. Its a torque monster. Chevies dont have a chance against aFord truck.
It has a 460 w/ C6. It is in rough shape and will be quite some time before it is ready to pull (hopefully next year). Any thoughts of what I should do with the motor while it is being rebuilt? The biggest motor I can run is a 468CID.
CBSuperduty, The way you build yiur truck depends on what class you will be pulling in. You'll have to check with the association that promotes the pull. Some places have Pure Stock, Street Mod, Super Stock, etc. Once you know your Class you can build it to those rules. Good Luck, Tyqmonn And for 150Ford, I agree , the 460 makes a great pulling engine.(although I Personally prefer the FE, Mine is a worked over 390 that I run in the Street Modified class - 6200 - 6500 lb.)
