Hey guys,
Do any of you know how to recharge R134 in you A/C?
I think I need to add some refrigerant R134 to my A/C system since it is taking longer to cool. I know I need to buy a gauge and hose but I was wondering if there is a preferable brand for the refrigerant. I'm getting confused with the low and high pressure valves so I need your help. I don't know how much refrigerant I need to add.
Any advice on how to perform a R134 recharge is welcome.
I would get a kit with a gauge, very cheap (10-15 bucks). It will tell you the pressure range it needs to be. R-134a systems are notorious leakers. You'll notice the dust caps have seals in them because the quick disconnect fittings leak. As for freon, there is only a handful of companys that make it, its just labled for different companys. I just had to put a can in my truck for our nice arizona summer......
good luck
You didnt say what year your truck was. I had a Chevy and it was thye first year that 134a was used. It didnt cool worth a crap. I got me 3 cans of Freeze 12 pulled a good vaccum and put the 3 cans in. It worked great! You can get a local shop to reclaim the 134a and pull a vaccum unless you know someone in the heating and cooling business that might cut you a deal.
Its not R12 390. Its a replacement for R12 but it sure worked good in that 134a system. The freeze 12 is also compatable with both types of oil used in 134a and the old R12 stuff. Try it if 134a is not getting her dun!
