Hi I have a 97 4x4 f150 w/ 180k miles and i need more light!!
I dont want to spend alot of money. Advanced Auto Parts has these lights for $30.00 each, can anyone tell me if they are, or if they think these are any good?
Blazer Lighting C52C
6" Offroad Light: 100 Watt Halogen; Chrome
DOUBLE INSULATED LENSES, RUGGED HEAVY GAUGE STEEL HOUSING
theyll work...but theyre not Hella's. we usually dont discuss stuff like that in here, but it is off-road semi-related... thereofre responses will probably be limited, unless someone else has them or something similar,
"I don't want to spend a lot of money" and "...think they are any good." don't belong in the same sentence concerning off-road lighting. You get what you pay for with off-road lighting.
Those lights sell for $15.99 each at walmart under the name of "Rally" For 16 bucks, they're actually not bad. These are a pencil beam, good for long range. Procomp, Rally, Blazer, KC, all sell these same lights, the only difference is the logo on the plastic lens cover. However the Rally version of these lights are just slightly different in that the wires pass through a hollow mounting bolt for cleaner installations. the Procomp, Blazer, and KC versions have a small chrome hose that comes out the back of the housing.
For the price of one Hella Rally 4000, you can get EIGHT of these and aim them where you need the lighting the most.
Sure they're not nearly as efficient as a Hella, But you dont need that much light if you got it right where its needed.
However someday, i'll get one of those cheap $16 lights and buy a cheap HID conversion kit from Ebay, just to see what its like.
Thanks for the advice, thats what I was goin for "not much to loose" thanks for the walmart heads up. And Raw Power where should I have posted this thread? I thought this might be the best from the choices.
I have a buddy who bought those wal-mart specials and they work pretty good. I've never been in a vehicle with a KC or Hella on them, so I can't compare the two. I was thinking about going with the Wal-Marts on my rig once its done so I don't have to get my hands cold while spotlighting
Oh, no, this is the right place... I was just stressing how it was unusual...we just dont get many like it here. Like said before, cheap doesnt really go with quality, but itll get r done a lot of times. I didnt know that Hellas were that expensive, therefore, Id just get the cheap stuff. I know I will when I get mine, cause Im only gonna break them.
I've used the el cheapos, KC's, and Hellas before. The Hellas were nice, just not to my wallet. They were certainly quality wise, the best. There included wirings kits simply blew me away. Everything was great quality, right down to the relays and switches.
I use el cheapos now, I smash or rip at least 4 a summer off anyway.
I got a set of elcheapos but I replaced the sealed beams with 300,000 CP units. I have these mounted down low and 4 KC 130 watts up high. All that and those Silvania Silver Stars When I come over the hill people run for the fallout shelter.
I have some cheepies on my F350 and they are ok but they don't compare to how bright the KC Hi-Lites I have on the Bronco. They just seem to keep a better light beam at a greater distance, but they are pricey. If you do any playing at night you need light. I would get the cheep ones to get started because any light is better than just the headlights.
Me and my buds all run 13v aircraft lights on our trucks and airboats. They're about 15 bucks for an adjustable rubber mounting cup and 15 bucks apiece for the bulbs. They work well, last plenty long, are cheap - and trust me Hellas, KCs, Rallys don't compare for brightness or penetration. They are about 3.5 inches in diameter and pretty light. Most NAPAs have them. I can't say whether or not they would be good for rock crawling because of the number of times a rig is rolled or slammed; but it's certainly another option.
So what yall think about jus bolting them on the bumper or behind the grill? Any one got some thoughts on where to mount lights, without having to bye a $400.00 + Bull Bar/Brush Guard?

Got a 2000 F150, and my lights are behind the grill. I like the way it looks and the output is pretty good. If ya look in my gallery, you'll see. Like I said, I think it looks good...
