Gots to tell ya, each time I drive the old truck all my troubles seem to melt away. Friday night we picked up shakes, parked on the side of the hill watching the high way go by. Probably just me.
It's not just you. Life in 2005 seems to equal rush, fast, hurry, and be quick about it. Hightech that is "supposed" to make life easier and make more time, has backfired. There's less time everyday to complete the list we make for ourselve's.
As I get older, the wish for "the old days" comes up more frequent, on the other hand new tech sure is fun as well as amazing at times. I think we need to make time for ourself, to slow down, reflect, think. Just sitting on the hillside was a good way to do that. We've most likely all done it in the past. Find a quiet, out of the way spot. Usually someplace high, late at night with a wife, girlfriend or good friend and sit. Talking is optional. Looking down at a freeway, barely hearing the whine of tires and engine noise. Like looking into a fire, there's something comforting there.
Nope, it's not just you.
I'm done rambling now!

Exactly right. I just have to get away from the city. Going camping up ogden canyon past pineview this weekend. Time for a little R&R.
Oh, and Congrats R Rocks on your wedding.
Nice to see ya got to go camping, thank you Mr mjwhip2. Check this out, Thursday nite I hooked into a three pound rainbow the fish was twenty inches. This trout was stripping line off my real then I thought it got snagged so I started down river, at that point the thing run up river. Most of the fish I have been catching, I have been able to just real them in, not this one. Gave me lots of time to think about it.
Its nice to get a good fighting fish every once in a while. I really need to get fishing. My kids want to go really bad, but between work, doing stuff around the house, and t-ball I haven't had much time to do anything. I think its about time to tell the wife that I'm taking the kids and were going to go do man stuff. I'm sure it would really hurt her feelings to have a nice quiet day to herself.
This morning we hit the chuck wagon breakfast, tonight the Rodeo. July 9 Coalville Super Cruise Car Show, this we will see. They close main street at one Pm and party till Midnite. Free admission, they say over 300 classics. The old ford makes one more.

heck, im only 16, and I miss it! i wish there were no buildings on the "bluffs" in draper, i wish corner canyon was still open and... i wish there were no houses on the damn mountains!!! i remember all the dirt roads in draper, well, they are no more, why dont they go build houses somewhere like...out west, where all you see is flat land, instead of the mountains, i don't understand it...its kind of irritating too. and the mormons, dont even gedt me started, they are buying ever frikkin thing in the state, if you are mormon i dont mean to offend you, i am too, but then again, i was born into it!
87, they say by the year 2020 there will be no farm land between Salt Lake and Ogden. Sign of the times, much easier to sell the old mans land than to carry on as stewartds. Most of the land by me was bought up during the depression now one acre can sell for as much as 60,000-100,000 an acre. One water share will cost you Six grand if you could find one. Some folks pay more for 20 oz of bottled water than gas. Times are changing, now days kids are killing kids. We make it a point to stroll up the road every so often just to say hi to the neighbors. All most forgot go fishing.
dang...thta realy made my day depressing...but, as you said it is the sign of the times, and it sucks, btw, wehre did you find that info? just curious.
You are probably correct though. I see this happening now. 10 years ago, where my house is, was nothing but farmland with a few houses here and there. Now there are houses with a couple farm here and there. Kinda sucks but I guess I'm part of the problem, I moved into a subdivision.
Where else are our kids going to build? My folks are from Southern Utah, Minersville, Millford. I love it down there but there is no work for a bozo like me. We could ponder the universe or become more self sufficient. I think mistakenID said it best we need to make time for our self.
