Grey smoke?
i have a question for you all, its not for me, but the father in law, hes got an 04 6.0L (im gonna ask this question in the 6L forum too) and today on the highway he was crusin with the cruise control on and he said it started to lose power for no reason, all the stock gauges looked fine (he has no mods) and then he looked in the rear mirror and saw white/grey smoke coming from the pipe. he pulled over and and left the truck idle, got out and it was still smoking, and then it went away and he carried on down the highway and everything seemed good. so any ideas??

Usually a diesel engine will produce white or gray smoke when it's experiencing a lack of fuel situation. When was the last time the fuel filter was serviced? Since it's a HEUI engine, if the oil level is low or restricted by a plugged oil filter, similar results may happen. Be sure that the all the fluid levels are correct and that the vehicle is up to date on its service. If a serious problem occured, a service engine light would have come on to let you know. In that event, you'll want to get it to a tech to pull the codes from the computer and diagnose the problem.
