I've got a 2001 auto w/ 100000. Seems to me that everyone w/ a PSD aren't worried about the powerstroke but the auto tranny. I'm just trying to get a thread started that will show how many miles we have on our auto, what type of repairs and maintence has been performed.
2001 92k, just had it rebuilt. Best part is the lifetime Warranty the builder gave me. Oh, And now it shifts like it's supposed to, mechanical diode is out of there too.
2002, 34,500 miles, still driving it, but will be going to BTS or similar soon. I can slip my converter with my chip on the Fuel-7 setting!! Now don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining in any way... I knew it was coming - no way the stock tranny will hold up to what I subject it to!!
Skeeter,
My 99.5 has 145,000 miles on it and nothings been done to it. I bought the truck used with 86,000 miles. Changed the tranny fluid to synthetic at 115,000 and have not missed a beat yet. Do have gauges for tranny temp and I watch it pretty close. Drive it to work every day and pull from 3,500 to 15,000 lbs about 3 or 4 times a month for farm stuff.
I put 141,000 miles on mine before I did anything to it. At that time I had it flushed! At abouit 203,000 miles the T/C was not locking up in O/D while I was pulling My 10,000# trailer. Had the codes cleared and I didn't have any more peoblem! I had already ordered a BTS so I went ahead and Installed it!! I don't think I needed it, It still shifted fine but it is good to know you will not be having Tranny problems for another 100,000 miles!!
thanks for the info guys I hope more people reply. Knowing the extended milage and the out come ford trannys aren't looking so bad. We all know the PSD is the best on the market.
02 with 91k on it... i don't know if the fluid has been changed... but i am doing it REAL soon... no slips or anything but she kinda shudders a little going into od sometimes if i'm not doing 55 or better... not bad but i don't like the way it sounds... anybody familar with this..?
92,000 miles seems awfully low miles to rebuild did you drive it hard or tow alot? jeff

Just installed sonnax valve and springs, shifts firmer, quicker. Also put a drain plug in pan. I think ford made pans so you wouldn't want to service trans. because it's such a mess to change the fluid and filter. Fluid was clean and no filings on the magnet. I hope to get as many miles as possible without rebuilding, but you just can't predict when they are going to go out. It's a 97 with 91,500 miles and I know the previous owner didn't use for much more than a family car, and tow a boat once in a while. Keep my fingers crossed, it's defenitely the weak link in psd's. Jeff
2000 F250. Bought it with 89k on it. At 95k, added sonnax valve, and springs, finned aluminum pan, external oil filter, and cooler. Have 105k on it. Shifts nicely, works fine.
