Got an 87 with 351 and a C6. Having new engine installed and this is an awesome chance to "rebuild my way."
Can anyone suggest a suitable trans to swap for this C6? The C6 is only a 3-spd and tachs to about 3 grand on the highway; need something with an OD. Have considered adding OD unit and having driveshaft cut, but don't have the $2K that I heard these things can cost. Also thought of swapping out rear gears, which are 3.55's, but would probably have to get pro to do it; (heard it can be tricky), and would have to find correct speedo gear. Truck came with towing pack, so probably not meant to be a highway cruiser.
