Another E40D Question

I bought a 94 Bronco with the 5.8 E40D 3.55 gears stock 265/75 tires . When I first purshased the truck it had a factory Remanufactured trans installed by the dealer (64k miles) because it wasn't shifting right. The truck now has 77k on it and the trans does't feel right to me. It just feels like it slips an aweful lot. Example If I'm going 40mph and stomp the pedal the tach jumps up to 3500 rpm and by the time I hit 50mph the tach is down to 3000 Rpm. If I back off the pedal the converter locks up and the RPM's drop even more Is this normal for this trans ?
I'm thinking the torque converter is slipping. Everything seem fine when cruising along and the converter locks up

The slippage you are wandering about is probably no more than just the "stall" speed of the converter. The converters should be engine specific for all available engines in order to allow rpm's to develop to the max. torque range for proper trans. operation.Diesel engines require less stall than gas because of torque at a much lower rpm.I don't think you should worry about this charcteristic, but worry more about fluid and cooling of the transmission.

Some of the trans setups are such that the converter will lock, sometimes in OD; gets better fuwl economy.
