Will lifting my 89 F150 about 3 inches with larger coils up front have bad caster/camber problems with the twin traction beams? Im planning on a shackle flip and lift coils. Is that a good idea for a cheap lift?
ehhh, thats a toss up. i would say you need to ga ahead and get the drop brackets but take it to an alignment shop and see if they can straighten it out. my thinking is that 3" is too much and you will need those brackets.
hell yea thats a good idea. thats what i am doing with my bronco, along with fender trimming! shackle flip will give ya about 3" or so, so that should match up your coils nicely!
I did a 4" on my F150 TTB. Needed the brackets, didn't have to worry about camber w/o the brackets...the TTB didn't even move enough to get the springs in. I'm not sure about a 3", but my 4" definetly needed drops. I made my own actually outta good heavy 1/4" plate. I also needed a dropped pitman arm as well
Yeah if you can weld you could make yourself a set of those drop brackets, or you could extend you ibeams as well, this is of course if you have the ability to get everything dead on so the geometry worls out good.
I think that i will try this in my 81 before i swap in the dana 60 i have, just to see how well it will turn out, after all the TTB is mild steel and is easy to weld, then when i build the tough truck i want to build i will have a set of extended TTB arms ready to go .
