and my mom and brother met the late,Great RAY CHARLES, along with Billy Preston and the Raylettes.- My mom followed them backstage at a concert. She asked for Mr. Charles autograph, but because he was standing, she did not get it...however She did shake his hand and got a hug from him..This was back in 1964. My Mom was quite a "gutty lady". She did get Billy Prestons and a couple of Raylettes sigs. though.
Reba McEntire, back when she first had a few songs on the radio, but was still doing the rodeo and bar circuit. I was never big on autographs either, but one of my friends wanted her autograph, so we talked to her one night after a show. She was very nice, and remembered us the next couple of times we saw her.
I've also met both Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry from the group Alabama. They both raise Hereford cattle, and I've met Teddy once and Randy three times at Hereford shows or sales. They're nice guys, too, and love to talk cattle.
Let me guess, you met them at the DuQuoin state fair a few years back? My cousin met them both too while they were racing their a few years ago. Schrader is her favorite too, Stewart is my Uncle's favorite.
As for me, I met Tom landry when I was in junior high at an FCA Banquet with my dad. Cool guy and I have an autographed picture from it too.
-George Carlin...I was leaving an elevator at Bally's in Las Vegas and he was walking into it, it was very late and I said 'Hey, aren't you.." and he said "(F word) you kid, no I'm not". Quite funny at the moment.
-Just last weekend I met the remaining living cast members from the original Dukes of Hazzard show, except for Tom Wopat (Luke).
I met Ringo Starr in the Memphis drum Shops some years ago when he was in town doing some recording. He needed a kit for his sessions. He was really nice and took time to talk "shop" to us fellow drummers.
Lets see-- most of these are politico types (yuck!)-- I met President Bush (the senior) and have a picture with him; also met Lawrence Eagleburger several times; worked for a while with Robert Strauss; the only "well known" musicians I have ever really met were the Chieftains (Irish music group) backstage after a show.
Well, I don't think this guys is very famous, unless you have seen his commercials for "Mens Warehouse"- his name is George Zimmer. He came into the place where I used to work at. I asked him,"Are you that guy from the *Mens Warehouse?" He replied 'Yes I am, I "guarantee it"* For those of you who don't know him, that is his slogan on Television,...."I guarantee it"
