I have an instrument cluster that was given to me for my '72 F250, but it isn't for that year. It is powered by wires and it has all gauges. I can't tell the difference between the front of this one and my own cluster. I have pictures that I can email if you think you might now what year this goes to. Thanks!!!
Thanks for your post, but I found that out when I pulled my own cluster out. I think this one is 73 or later, but I don't know which year exactly. I want to sell it but I don't know what to say about it. If anyone wants to look at it if they might now, please tell me. Thanks!
When you look close at the back it may have a year or part number on it. The 60`s trcuks have a C with a number C9 for 69 and the 70`s will have a D3 for 73. Some will have the actual year on the back. There probably is not too much demand for the instrument panel as there are still lots around unless the one you have is mint.
Cool, thanks for the info. The cluster starts off with C8... so it should be for a 1968. I'm not worried about getting much for the cluster, I just have 3 extra since my circuit board was fried on my original cluster. I had actually gotten a working cluster from a local junk yard...for more than what I paid on another one that didn't work with mine. Oh well. Thank you again for the info!
The 68 cluster will work for 67-69. In 70 Ford went to the printed circuit in the back and made changes for 71-72. So, you would need a 71 or 72 only for your 72.
I just repaired my 72 cluster a few months ago so I did the research as to what works in what year. On mine, it was the plugs that attach to the instrument voltage regulator that broke, so the rest is good. I made one good one out of the two.
I still have parts for the cluster if you happen need something specific, let me know and you can have it for postage costs if I have it.
Thanks for the info and your offer of parts, but I did find a complete working cluster at the junkyard. And they also have a guarantee so if it stops, I can get another one. So far, it is all good. I actually also made 1 cluster from two. I took all the best parts and combined them together. The dang circuit board really makes it a pain to fix though. I'd rather have the wires. Thanks again and have a great day all!
That is usually how it has to be done is to make one good one out of two or three when we are dealing with 30 year some vehicles and new parts are too far away or too costly.
