Check engine light after ignition system change
I bought this truck from some guy down the road from me for a good price. It only has 80,000 miles on it. It's a 1991 F-150 with a 302 and what I think is a E40D because it has a overdrive button on the dash board. Though I'm not sure. The last truck I had, had the overdrive button on the column shifter. The truck was running rough and rattling badly when I go over 45mph. So I changes the plugs, plug wires, and the distributer cap and roter. Now the truck runs great but the check engine light came on. Does anyone have any ideas why this would cause the light to flash? It stays off for the first five or so minutes when I start it but eventually comes on again.

I took it to Advance Auto Parts and had them scan it with a OBD 1 scanner. There were two codes. one of them was the EGR and the other was a park sensor. I bought a new EGR valve and broke a 10" adjustable wrench trying to remove the hose from the bottom of the old EGR valve. But alot of WD-40 and another adjustable wrench later I got it off. The truck ran fine for the most part after I put on the new EGR valve.
