With the price of Diesel staying around 25 to 30 cents above the current price of gasoline and with no outlook for a reversal like it used to be, if you were looking at a different truck, would you still buy a Diesel?
I just love the sound, performance and power of my Diesel and would most likely replace it with another one when I wear this one out. I just really get pi$$ed every time I drive buy the station and see that it's went up another 5 cents, as it did last night...$2.33 this morning at 9am. I promptly headed to the Flying J where it was still 2.23 and filled up. Thinking real hard about getting a 150 gallon barrel that I can put on a trailer and when a bargin is to be had again, I'll be ready!

I will stick with my "second love"!!! ( MY PSD THAT IS)LOL
Here in Idaho the price of diesel is finally back down to the same price as regular unleaded ($2.19).
The greatest price difference we ever got to her was about $0.30 more for diesel than regular unleaded.
Considering that I get 2-4mpg better than any of my co-workers with gassers, and we are all reimbursed at $0.38 per mile, it is still far cheaper to run my powerstroke.
The fact that my pickup can literally smoke their puny gassers is all gravy.
The '96, in march, when it was at the end of its winter hike up, just for running WVO. punched some number, and if I get 40K out of the engine, it will have paid for itself, now if diesel drops, then will take more miles, diesel goes up, it pays for itself faster. I really am not worried, I put 52K on the '97 in 18 months.
The idea behind it always interested me, and the challenge of building it was fun too, but the free fuel, and the 20-40 cents a gallon if I pay road tax, sounded just as good.
to answer the question, yes. I will never go back to a gasser.

i gotta agree with this... besides... i love the way my mule looks, sounds, and hopefully will LAST..! i'm sorry... i don't CARE what the gas guys say... you can't compare to diesel... and i don't see ANY of the V10 guys getting 300 - 500K out of their motors...! i'm sold on these things... and if you could see the way my boss looks with envy at my truck everyday.. just before he gets in his F350 with it's 5.4 V8, well, it would almost make you cry... i would bet a weeks pay he trades that truck for a diesel within a year...!
hehe, hey Johnny, can i take you up on that bet even though i'm unemployed at the moment?? as far as i see it, i don't lose in the deal. hehe, gotta love it when the boss wishes he had somethin like yours....
heh..! i do kinda love it... but... at the same time i hate knowing that every time he sees my truck he kicks himself... some of the guys at work want to see my 5ver.. so the saturday the wife and i leave for vaca i'm going to stop by with it hooked to my truck... that'll probably push my boss over the edge...!
With a big truck, I still think the diesel is the best choice. If you're gonna work it, then get the diesel. If you decide you don't really need all that truck, and you want a gas engine, then consider the 1/2-ton.........
