I'm not sure what #19 is on the '01.
Do your backup lights come on after the fuse is blown?
I'm wondering if it's the Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor located on the drivers side of the tranny.
Do a quick check and make sure all your wires are hooked up at the tranny and clean.
Your stealer has 'em at fifty bucks a pop if it's bad.
hi doc, welcome aboard to the best place for information.
Have you had any recent work done to the rear of the truck ... like a new hitch or someone install some wiring? I am not sure if the backup lites get their power from the trans switch or the steering column switch. Just some places to look.
Hi steve, Thanks for replying, no i have had no wiring work or trailor hitch type work done. This was my first thought and have checked trailor wiring as best as can. Can not find any nicks or shorts that are visible.
Check the two plugs on the tranny right above the cross member and the three on the frame rail. Pop 'em and clean 'em up. Do you have backup lights after the fuse blows?
Sorry for the delay in response. Yes i have back up lights after the fuse blows. I pulled all the connectors you suggested and the trailor connectors and cleaned them with a contact cleaner. I have had no more failures since then!! I do not want to claim success this early but i think something changed. I can't thank you enough for your help.
