I've got a 2000 super duty 250 with a 7.3 stroker. When I bought it ,there was a Superchip installed. It went bad and I bought a Superchips 1705 Micro Tuner.
Last week the tranny decided not to shift into overdrive anymore. I set the Tuner back to factory setting and took it in to the dealer because it has an extended warrentee. They told me they could see where a chip was installed and the original chip put a hard code on the computer and now the warrentee doesn't cover the tranny. Is this true for Superchips or are they just jerking my chain??
Would appreciate any info on this as the repair quote was $3300.
i dont think anything is traceable on the 7.3's now the 6.0 yes i think they can. jerk, jerk. they probably looked at your computer and saw the coating had been cleaned off and then proceeded to tell you that story so you would say yeah i had one.
Your programmer will leave a P0603 code, which is basically loss of power to the PCM. That could also happen when you remove battery cables.
Unless they pulled the PCM and saw the coating is missing, they pulled a fast one on you.
But Again, most people assume they are keeping their warranty when they add programmers and chips, well you are altering the factory spec, and I would not expect FORD to pay for it.
