That is the whole point a diesel should not have to run the high rpms to get the pulling power, and that is why many are wondering what the life of the high reving 6.0 will be.The I.H. DEALER has told me that ford is pushing the engine past its limits and it will not run past 200k. Which is the real reason ford is changing to the new motor in 07 not the cleaner running engine story they want us to believe.
I pulled my 3,000 lb trailer, Family of four and 1,000 lbs of gear over the Grapevine North and South with ease. I was doing 75 mph up the first part of the Northbound grade and a car pulled in front of me and I slowed to 55. I got around that car and accelerated up the Northbound Grapevine back to 75 with no problem! It didn't even downshift. That was with 1,000 miles on the truck.
Some posting here may have been on the boards for 1 1/2 years but don't pay much attention to their doom and gloom.
Have your truck checked out and enjoy!
That's right, I've pulled my 10,000 lb toy hauler up and down the grapevine from Carlsbad to the track at Buttonwillow and had no problems at all keeping up with the traffic.
The truck pulled my TH trailer up and over the grapevine almost easier than my F-150 did when it was pulling a 5x10' utility trailer with only two bikes and gear.

Daryl, have you weighed your trailer on a scale? The reason I ask it I'd say 10,000lbs is conservative, I bet you're toting a lot of weight than that at hwy speeds with no problem.
I have a ww 26' toy hauler and have scaled it at the truck stop at 11,500lbs. That's loaded with full water (120 gallons), 1 full size quad, 1 med size quad and a 4 stroke MX bike.
I can't wait to get an SD so I can fly up the western mountain passes :
I can't imagine the 6.0 feeling slow compared to the 7.3. We run a scmt in tow safe mode in our 7.3 and I drove the Dodge CTD HO and the PSD 6.0 back to back -- there were certainly some comparisons to be made there, but when I jumped back in my chipped 7.3, it felt like a rag was stuffed in the intake. Compared to Either truck! I'd take the new one in -- maybe an early varible vane turbo failure??
While I love my 7.3, I'd never pit it against any of the new diesels, Ford, Dodge or Chevy -- bone stock against my mild chip, they'd have my lunch...
I had a 02 f-350 7.3 without a chip it's lag was brutal. with the superchips 80hp module it was pretty good. Now my 05 f-350 6.0 ,pretty close to my old truck when it had the chip. To me both engines stock would be no comparison. If you think the 7.3 had more anything there is something wrong with the 6.0 you have.
Can someone explain to me to me how Ford is pushing the engine beyond its limits. To me it seems like people adding modifications to that would be doing that not Ford. A poster here mentioned this. An IH dealer told him this. I wouldnt take much stock in this,

how about reliability, simplicity, longevity, better MPG, the list goes on and on... The only thing the 6.0 has over the 7.3 is hp/torque, but none of that means a damn when the 6.0 is broken at a mere 200k miles
Even when the 6.0's start reaching that 200000 mile mark, it may be hard to determine by then which ones were chipped or tuned at one time in their lives. I think this will be a factor to consider when trying to be fair in determining the durability/reliabillity of these engines. It would have to be a list of one owners to get sure data for a survey.

How do you know what the 6.0 will be like at 200k. I've had both and would take the 6.0 any day over the 7.3. But as always everyone has their opinion.
