I drove my 1989 F250 to the post office, and shut it off. When I came back the ignition switch would not budge. Had to tow it home. Has this ever happed to anyone else? I don't know if I need a locksmith or a "not so new" replacement column. I'm in the Church parking lot and would like to make room for Sunday. Please advise, Haamezzed
hi Haameezed...MY 91 column would jam the ignition switch, rocking the wheel left and right loosened it up...then i found that the tilt wheel always jamed the switch when in the up position....shifting the tilt down would free it up..this is after i did a minor rebuild to regrease the inner pawl bar..good luck
when you do get the ignition to move per above suggestions use some Lock Ease from
Permatex inside the ignition lock. It's a liquid graphite and is a little messy. I've also made it a practice of only turning the key with the tilt wheel down in the level position.
