I just bought another Ford truck, it's a '83 F-100 short bed 2x4 with a 351W and auto, swaped in. The truck has air conditioning, but when they swaped in the 351 they didn't keep the compressor or the hardline, I was wondering if I could get a compressor and the hardlines off a 302 powered truck and put it togeather-then have it refilled? Is this a lost couse or does this sound feasible?
what compressors and mounting brackets will fit the 351?
I replaced my A/C compressor when I swapped my 300 I6 for a 351W. It's a long story, but I have the compressor, brackets, and hardlines that you need for the 351W and I'll sell the whole bundle for $50 shipping. I went with polished aluminum ZOOPs brackets and my compressor would not work with the brackets. Everything worked fine on the A/C when I removed it.
It's the Nippondenso cast alluminum and it can be polished. But if you're going to show your engine, you probably will want to go with polished brackets and accessories. Check out ZOOPs brackets, they have a terrific set. Most of the show brackets utilize the GM altenator and GM power steering pumps and I only found ZOOPs and Street & Performance to offer the nice brackets for the Ford engine. (March may have some, though). ZOOPs is the better bracket and they are great to work with. Oh, and you would also need to purchase a Sanden A/C compressor. I'll send you an attachment to an e-mail with my 351W.
Well, compressors are heavy, I'd guess about 30 lbs (?) and the brackets will run about 7-8 lbs. It is a v-belt w/single pulley and I live in North Carolina.
You ought to check out Hotmail for an e-mail server. It doesn't work good with message boards, but you can send pics over it easily and it's free.
