I just bought my first Ford truck, a 2005 F250 SD 6.0PSD FX4. I only have 2000 miles on it, but for some reason (and it's not all the time) I get a hard shift and/or a short engine rev when the transmission shifts from 2nd to 3rd gear. Any ideas?
Any 'clunk' as it shifts ,and, does it stop for the most part or completely stop when the unit warms to operating temp? More noticeable when making the first few cold shifts?
it could be alot of things. i would suggest taking it to the stealership for warranty repairs. i dont even mess with my trucks until they are out of warranty. good luck!
No, no "clunk". It just seems like it is not shifting correctly. But, like I said the poor shift could vary from a rev to a hard shift. By the way, I was not suggesting that I would work on the truck. I was just wondering if anyone had heard of this being a problem.
I only suggested and asked if it has a clunk, as more than a few of the 5R110's have this concern for a 2-3 UPSHIFT clunk/bang, along with what feels like a slight shift delay or hangup.. With this condition there doesn't seem to be a fix 'just' yet, and may be deemed 'normal' at some point as was the 2-3MPH rollaway clunk/jerk.. Hard to determine a shift concern, but could be a shift solenoid/hydraulic/valve body issue ect. And, there is also a new flash/reprograming for shift improvements for 05.. It should go back for a warranty look see ASAP..
