And a 1953 F-800 which I plan on turning into a car hauler. I want to sell the chassis and just use the body on a newer chassis which already has a roll back bed on it. I got lucky and found one with a cab fire, but the aluminum Holmes bed is cherry.
Is anyone going to the Macungie truck show June 17th and 18th?
Hi Kevin and welcome! Make a few more posts and all the forum features will become available to you, search, gallery etc.
Nice looking truck looks clean and straight? Also notice you're a fellow dark darksider with a brand X motor, but they still let us hang here as long as we don't do too much bragging about it. LOL!
What tranny you have in there, shift ball looks like it has a 5 spd pattern on it.
I'm running a T56 6spd behind a 400 ci SB in my 56 Panel.
Not sure why the link does not work, but you can just type it in your address bar.
AXracer,
Yeah I guess I could get in a little trouble for having a brand X motor, but it is a 396 and it sounds very sweet. I have 3" flowmasters to go on it, which should really give me a nice tone. I will be updating the progress of the 1954 on ClassicJunkYard.com if you guys want to follow along.
Welcome to FTE. AX, I tried to open it, and it wouldn't open either. States could not find server. I'll do the cut and paste and see if that works.
I got it to open using cut and paste.
Truck is cool. Definitely has that rat rod look to it. Hey, I noticed you have the "other" motor in it. Nice truck though.
Richmonds are real nice for dragracing, but for the street I'd go for the T-56 basically your BW 4 speed with close ratios and two overdrives. With a 3.70 rear it loafs along in 6th on the highway at speeds that could be costly but still gets it on at the stoplights, with a 4.10 and a slightly heavy foot you best buy rear tires by the dz.
Nearly bulletproof since it was designed for the Viper V-10, but also used in the LT1 Camaro and some Mustangs so is available used, rebuilt, or new and bolts up with factory parts. There are two 6th gear ratios available, .62 or .50 overdrives.
Mine is the .5 6th and we got > 24mpg driving cross country @ > 80 bringing it home with the engine running not much over a fast idle.
Well the UPS man was playing Santa today at work. Actually he was pissed that he had to load his truck this morning will all my goodies. I did unload it for him, right onto my pickup to take home. Now the fun begins...
Mustang II IFS with air bags
4 link in rear with air bags
Powersteering
new Ididit column
New gauges
Wiring Harness
and a few other odds and ends like exhaust and wheels.
Just waiting till it cools down a little bit and I will start stripping the truck down tonight.
Kevin,
Welcome and nice truck! Sounds like you'll be busy puttin' on all those new parts. Take lots of pics and post 'em in your gallery. We love pictures!
Welcome aboard! As you probably are starting to gather, FTE and the 48-60 Forum are a great bunch of folks who'll be glad to answer your questions - sometimes even correctly! Nice atmosphere, great people, lots of fun.
Although I'm a stocker - I still can appreciate a nice truck like yours. You're definitely ahead of a lot of us.
