Can you tell me the differences.
Say on a F-250 diesel, 94 thru 96,
What's the difference between a plain F-250, a HD and a Super Duty?
What's the difference between a diesel, a turbo-diesel, a powerstroke and a "V-8 Diesel"?
What are the distinctive characteristics, particularly external, between the 94, 95 and 96?
Thanks

A heavy duty F250 had a GVWR of 8800 lbs. much higher than a standard F250. There was not a Super Duty F250 produced in those years. At that time the only Super Duty was an F450 with a straight front axle for the 2WD model.
A Diesel is an internal combustion engine that uses diesel fuel. A turbo-diesel is a diesel engine that has a turbo charger on it that forces air into the intake, and produces more power from the same size engine.
When Ford started putting diesel engines in their trucks in '83 it was a V8 International diesel engine. Long about '96 the engine they started using was called a "Power Stroke Diesel", from everything I've heard it's supposed to be an outstanding engine.
The only differences I can think of externally on those year trucks would have to be things like the grill, maybe trim strips. Sheetmetal is the same.

Trail Riders right on the money. Except the Powerstroke was introduced in Late 1994 and only equipped with a 5-speed. The 7.3l IDI was introduced in 1988, and the turbo in 1992.
