Clutch questions

I am installing a toploader behind a '79 302. This will be going into a 1948 F-1. I have located two bellhousings with related clutch components. The first is a cast iron bellhousing out a early '70's F-100. It has an 11" pressure plate with a good ring gear. The second is an aluminum bellhousing with a 10.5" Pressure plate. The ring gear is worn.

Here are my questions:

I am assuming that the aluminum bellhousing is better than the cast iron. Is this true?

Is the 11" pressure plate/clutch disc "better" than the 10.5" pressure plate/clutch?

Can I use the 11" pressure plate/clutch disc from the cast bellhousing with the aluminum bellhousing. (Flywheel part numbers are identical.)

I have heard that the ring gears can be replaced by heating them, expanding the ring with heat, and then removing them by force from the flywheel. Is this true?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Aluminum is lighter thats a good thing.
What your looking in the bellhousing is flywheel diameter. You must use the fly wheel of the correct diameter for the bell housing your using or your have problems with starter. It may be that the 11'' will bolt to the 10" I've seen flywheels with 2 bolt patterns. And I've seen 10" pressure plates with wide flanges that would fit the 11" pattern.

Remove the ring by heating with a torch and tapping with a hammer it should come off easy. Reinstall in reverse heat it and tap it back into place. Keyword tap , Do not beat or force you can break the ring.
