My father in law has an 03 2500 with a Cummins. It is a great engine, no doubt. The 03 & up are extremely quiet compared with the older ones. Like the engine but not impressed with the truck.
That would be an interesting rumour indeed.
Although i don't know what diesels MB currently have that would be suitable in a pick up.
I do know that they are working on a 6.0l V12 however.
Around 500hp, and 750lb ft of torque.
Imagine that in a pickup.
Yee Haw!!!
Now I have no Dodge experience, but I've always heard rumors of dodges haveing junk trannys, and overall being recycled pieces of "you know what". Not just my buddies telling me this, but A guy whos worked at a body shop for 25+ years told me that dodges are recyled pieces of "you know what", and many elderly-like people (no offence older people!) that have worked on cars for the better part of their part of their life also seem to agree. Now i have nothing against dodges, besides their grilles being way too big, but are these rumors true?
Admins, im not flaming dodge. Im just curious if they tend to have "defective parts"
Mopar DID have a problem with the ball joints in the Dakotas and Durangos a couple of years ago.
I had a 2002 Dakota Quad Cab SLT (Plus). I loved that truck. Just couldn't deal with the gas mileage, driving into Washington, DC every day. 10-12 mpg in town. 4.7L V-8. Fast. Real fast. Handled great. Didn't handle like a truck.
It would pass anything EXCEPT a gas station.
The 'new' Dakota. . . . ugliest truck on the road, IMO.
Looks like the 'south end of a cow, headed north'.
My wife had a '98 G. Caravan. We put 72,000 miles on it.
It had the 3.3 V-6. It did NOT use any oil. Garage kept. That was a GOOD vehicle.
She was involved in an accident and totalled the van. Someone ran a stop sign and caused the accident.
I miss that vehicle.
Mopar junk?!?!?!?! Like every other manufacturer, they make good ones and bad ones.
UPDATE- The pick up I mentioned on page 2 at the bottom just broke down again. This time it is the injection system. It went in to get fixed, but we have had enough. This is our busy season and cannot afford to have a truck down. My partner is going back to Ford.

wow. I'm starting to like chevy over dodge more and more! There needs to be a recall on dodge trucks "Return to the dealership in exchange for a ford."
I didn't know chevy made "real" trucks. In my opinion what they sell is no better than dodge. The only real truck on the road is FORD. If you buy a chevy or dodge you better have another vehicle around to go to the parts store. You will make a lot of trips. We had to learn this the hard way. Fortunately we have AAA Plus.
