i have a 1980 f-250 with the 351M in it. i want to reinstall the temp sensor after the previose owner unhooked it(and nearly everything else under the hood). i got a 2 port blue sensor, which is what the guy at NAPA said that the 351 took, now, where are the hookups for the sensor? i found a few wires and tubes that look like they might hook-up to it, but im not sure. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Slash,
The coolant sensor should be below and to the right of the thermostat housing on that. It should be a small sensor with a single elecrical stud, and it should point forward toward the radiator. The wire to hook to it should come forward along the left valve cover on the inside ( with the ignition wiring) and have a single slip on 90 degree end. It will look like the small wire ends going to the starter solonoid on the right fenderwell. Torque1st is right about that other thing sounding like a ported vacume switch. There were usually two of those in the thermostat housing itself. one controlled the vacume advance and the other went to the EGR control valve mounted at the right rear of the intake manifold. (if it was equipped) This thing still got the Ford 2V carb on it?
thanks a lot guys. no, titanic, it has a holley 2 barrel carb on it. is there something special about the ford 2v carb? Also, does anybody have any good large pictures of what the untampered 351M looks like in a F-series? i would like to have good guide of what went where and what color everything origionally was.
