V-10 fuel pump problems?

I have just recently baught my first f-250 SD V10, I love the truck and the engine has great pulling power, however I have noticed a considerable power loss @ 3000rpms. I spoke with someone who has worked on these, and I was told that the earlier ones had a problem with the fuel pump starving out at about that RPM? my truck is a 2000. I was wondering if anyone has any info on this, or maybe a replacement fuel pump PN. Any would be helpful. Ken

Welcome to FTE, Ken

I have a '99 and have never had a pump problem. Fuel filters, on the other hand, have to be changed in this area about every 15K miles. Durn dirty gas...

Maybe that's your problem. Have you looked into that?

thanks, Big orn, I haven't got a filter yet, I just thaught I would do some checkin and maybe replace both at the same time if anyone else had heard of the problem. Thanks for the info, surely a lot cheaper than the pump itself. Ken

You're welcome.

BTW, if this is your first Super Duty fuel filter change, you'll need to purchase the removal tool (fairly cheap little item). It looks hard, but after you study it a bit, the tool works like a charm.

Good luck.

I would definitely do the filter first and see how it does.

BTW - You should try posting your questions in the V-10 forum under the performance section. There are some real ten cylinder gurus down there.
