Question Does this deal sound good ?

Hey guys, I have been reading on this site for some months now trying to get the lowdown on the 6.0.

I still have my 93 F250 XLT 4x4 7.3L which has 230k on it. I am afraid to part with it and move on to the latest in technology, based on some of the stuff I have read here. My current truck has been solid ! Never an engine issue in it's life. Transmission is starting to complain though, but I am babying it so I can get by. I will most likely keep this as a second truck when I purchase the new one.

I will say that all the information has been enlightening, and I thank you all for taking the time to make this site so useful.

Here we go.
Visited Ford dealer yesterday.

05 F350 XLT CC, 6.0, cloth, 18" wheels, True Blue, tow pkg/mirrors etc MSRP ~45,300
Build date is 09/04 which does not sit well with me since it has been sitting on the lot for ~ 8 months now.
Took it home to show the wife, she liked it, but my neighbor like it more.

12 miles on it, and it ran well and sounded better. Had that grin going on.
Just fit into my garage with those TT mirrors I had about a millimeter left on each side.

Brought it back and inquired about the price.
With their discount and available rebates they brought the price down to $36,900. I didn't even bother to haggle etc at this point, but also inquired about a Lariat which was loaded.
Lariat was $49,200, and the brought that down to $38,900 without any effort.

What do you guys think about this pricing? Can I do much better?
Should I wait a couple months and see what happens with rebates etc?

Thanks in advance for any advice !

Love the look and feel, currently from a distance....

Hey 93 stillstrong,

It sounds to me like a pretty good deal. I am looking into basically the same truck here in Pittsburgh, PA, and cannot find anything on the lot in an '05. I have to order an '06. The best price I found so far is 42600 for an '06 F-350 CC, Lariet, 6.0, Camper package (heavy springs/swaybars), 3.73, leather, SRW, etc. If you can live with the '05 being a year old, jump on it. I will probably order the '06 since this is my work truck. Good luck. Let me know what happens.

With the rebates, I just got an 05 250 last weekend at about 11,000 under MSRP, and that's with the Ford A plan. That's for a Lariat, pretty well loaded, so your price quote for the Lariat seems pretty good.

I have been told, although I have no proof, that you cannot buy a Ford vehicle cheaper than you can on the A plan. I've always been happy with the price I get, and the only haggling is for trade in value, if I decide to trade.

In any case, I have seen other posts that indicate 11k off msrp is a good deal, which is about what they offered on the Lariat you looked at. The other one, a little less off, but maybe the margin isn't as great. Mind you, you are talking 350, I am talking 250, but should be somewhat similar.

Go with your heart (and wallet).

Slight correction since I fat fingered the numbers.
On the XLT they went from 45,300 MSRP to 35,986 or $1,000 discount to what I previously posted.

Would you guys be concerned that it has been on the lot for ~ 8 months?

Thanks

93, that's certainly a maybe. And I'm not sure anyone here is qualified to answer that, hopefully there is someone that has some facts to say for sure. You might try posting that question in the new vehicle section.

As for price,
I have been told, although I have no proof, that you cannot buy a Ford vehicle cheaper than you can on the A plan.
I also got 11K off msrp, without the A plan. I'd be getting the Lariat at 11K off, make them that offer if you get a good responce to the 8 month old question.

I think you are getting some pretty good pricing. I personally would go for the Lariat. Ford Credit also has some great incentives on interest and additional cash. In the Chicago area Ford has also been advertising an additional $1000 rebate for financing with Ford credit which is in addition to the $1000 they already have going for a combination of $2000 just for financing with Ford.

I bought my 05 Lariat PSD last month which sat on my dealers lot since 8-04. The mileage was at 24 miles and everything seemed to be fine. Time will tell, but I obviously had no issues with it.
