I have an manual '87 F150 with an 6 cyl. It won't start from the key. I recently changed the starter relay (which i use to start the truck) so the starter is not the problem (or can it still be?) or the relay. I also changed the ignition switch? (located on steering column) and also did some wiring work regarding the neutral switch located on the transfer case (tranny?) I noticed that they were corroded and wired them to each other to complete the circuit. Unfortunately, when trying to start the truck, using the key with clutch fully depressed in neutral, still no start. Any ideas, anyone? Still looking at my baby and these boards.
I to have the same problems....Like you I have replaced the Nuetral safety switch, relay and ignition switch...My truck still only starts when it wants too...Sometimes I have to start it at the relay...I Have a 1990 f150 4.9 6cyl with the e4od trans....I hope someone is able to help. I've been trying to fiqure it out also....
i got problems too, the key works though and i am getting furl, i put in a new coil and condensor and it still wont start. it has new plugs and wires, email me if u can help me
Possible-worn/bad actuator in the column not allowing the electrical switch to travel far enough. Also check adjustment of ignition switch on lower column.
Also check to make sure you have power to and from switch. If not check fusible links at starter relay
