Engine cuts-off
I have a 1989 F-150 4x4, 4.9L EFI 6-cyl. 128,000. After running my new rear tank nearly empty, (mileage test), I have had a problem which may or may not be a coincidence. My engine will suddenly shut off while driving no matter how much gas I have in the tank. I have had success in stopping, switching tanks, waiting for the pump to bring up gas and restarting. I can then switch back to the rear tank, no prob. Last night however, the tank switch was no help. Had my brown beauty towed to the Ford dealer near work, but when it got there, it started and they could find no reason for the stalling. No charge, but no solution. I plan on changing my fuel filter and adding cleaner to the tank this weekend. Do you think this will solve the problem, or is this a problem anybody has heard of before? (I'm use to alot of other F-150 quirks)
Thanks for your help!

First check to make sure youre getting fuel to the engine. You should be able to spray some fuel injection cleaner into the intake if it starts and dies you will know its a fuel problem if it won't start at all its probably electical.I had the same problem after changing fuel pump and filter I figured out it was the switchover valve for the fuel tanks.
Good luck.
P.S. Please let us know what the problem ends up beeing.
