Question swap from 3/tree to C6

I have a 1967 f-100 2wd 360 3/tree. The clutch is about to go, and 1st/2nd are grinding. Tranny is original, dunno about the clutch. I want to swap to a C6 and need a list of parts I will need and problems I may run into. I need to know if there is a specific C6 I need? I will have the column, shifter, linkage, and purchase a tranny cooler for towing. Currently the driveline is split, do I need a different one?

The installer has much classic car restoration experience, along with years of engine/tranny swaps....but has not done many manual-to-auto swaps in the elder ford trucks so all advice would be greatly appreciated.

There are 2 general types of C6 trannies: Big Block & Small Block, so get the correct one to fit your engine.

Don't forget the flexplate and torque converter as well as have a nice vacuum port from which to pull vacuum from. The bolts that hold the flexplate onto the crank are probably shorter than those for a much thicker flywheel. You may need new bolts or there may be internal clearance problems within the engine (don't ask me how I know).

Also, there MAY be a clearance issue between the top of the tranny bellhousing and the flooring hump which may require a different crossmember or larger floor hump. When I did my conversion (in a '74), I just bent the floor hump upwards by jacking the trans up so high against the sheetmetal that it bent in the correct arc. Once I dropped the jack and the trans, I had the clearance I needed to install the larger trans.

YMMV though...

check the junk yards for the factory coolers
i picked a large one that bolted right in for 10.00
for my swap i went with a floor shifter
i am using the b&m from jegs, good price and easy to add to the floor
as to the drive line, measure the length of both
trans. if not the same then plan on a new driveshaft
when i did mine i bought a junker that had all
the correct parts intact to match my van and
just pulled and cleaned what i needed
