I need to fix my blinker switch. I searched on the fourm, but need additional help. Do you need a steering wheel puller, or can you just bang it with your palms toward you to get the steering wheel off after removing the nut?
It would be tough trying to get it off without a puller. I know I had to use my puller on mine. Even with the puller it was tough. You can rent one from the zone or buy it for around $10.
I bought my puller from AutZone for $15.00...well kinda....was a brand new rental and I decided that I may need it again some other time. Rental is the same as buying and then returning. But you usually get used tools for the rentals.
You can get the steering wheel off without a puller. It will require 2 people (one of which needs to be pretty strong) and a hammer.
Loosen the nut a few turns, then while pulling back on the wheel, have the other person tap on the end of the steering shaft where the nut is. Usually, the steering wheel will pop right off. Just be sure to leave the nut on and not hit too hard or you can damage the shaft.
