being that it's a C clip rear..if a axle was broken..it would slide out and the tire and existing shaft would be laying there..in other words..u wouldn't be able to drive it without the tires sliding out and off.
when u filled it..what weight gear oil did you use? It should have taken about 2 1/2 bottles.
Dextron III -- 2.5 bottles roughly. Planning on draining it this weekend and taking a peek since its past the 500 mile mark. Heat is still there....still no jumping, grinding, screaming, or whining. My personal opinion is that its the quality of iron used for that Diff case...going to look into an alternate company or a custom case...we'll see after this 500 mile check up
Correction...not Dex III...that is tranny fluid...my bad. Anyway...it was 80 weight..I am switching to 90 or 120 weight this weeken or next. Will post results then.
You might try some friction modifier also. A good place to get it online is http://www.brothersperformance.com/s...fmm19546a.html It's mostly a mustang shop, but they sell ford friction modifier. I used it in the rear end of my Rx7 to eliminate catching and chatter around corners. It worked prefectly. I'm assuming that it would also keep things cooler.
Their description:
