Does anyone know why? I mean she licks everything. She will lick my hands. Then she will lay on me and lick my pants, shirt. Get up and lick my desk. Jump off of me and lick my filing cabinet. It is weird!
She is a small cat. She is about half the size of a normal cat (she is a runt). She has half a tail as well. When we went to get her fixed the doctor said she had a heart murmur. Maybe she has this uncontrollable urge to lick everything. Weird...
Are you trying to get her to stop licking ? If so, put some tabasco on whatever she licks, that should stop it. I had a cat that liked to chew up shoe strings, that put an end to it. Cute cat.
No, I am not really TRYING to stop her. It is cute but annoying after a while. I wonder why she does it. If I did that to women I would get smacked around!
Was you're cat born in the wild?
Wild cats tend to be a little smaller. I see that your cat is also thin.
The one I have licks lots of things that may have been a food source when she was young.
Her daughter got sprayed by a skunk and licks (cleans) everybody including her brother & mom, my kids & me too.
AL.
A friend of mine has a cat that used to have a thing for pinning me down and licking my face. She'd get ahold of my hair so I couldn't really move, then just go to town. Don't know what the deal was, but I really don't like animals licking my face, so it wasn't very pleasant. She'd usually sneak up on me while I was sleeping, and it was a pretty rude way to wake up. I think it's just a personality quirk some animals have, could be a sign of affection. I've been around a few horses that are that way. Had one mare lick my head the other night while I was putting iodine on her foal's navel...guess my head just looks dirty sometimes!
One question: Has the cat does it all it's life, or has it started or gotten worse suddenly?
If the cat is doing it to inanimate objects, and doesn't stop, something's wrong.
Sometimes, cats drool when they have something stuck in their digestive tract - my cat did it once, but he eats band-aid papers, candy wrappers, rubber bands, etc. Or, when they are sick, or poisoned. I've heard of licking as a way to deal with the drool or a way to deal with the feeling that something's wrong.
It could be a vitamin or some other type of deficiency.
If you're the type to spend money on a vet, do it.
Your cat may be licking to get something off it's tongue. After it lick's it self, it find's out that it doesn't like the taste, so it try's to wipe it's tongue on you. Check and see if it has a sore on it's tongue. Good luck opening it's mouth.
