Auto Locking Hub Axle Nuts
Auto Locking Hub Axle Nuts
Does anyone here who converted from a 3 BOLT to autolocker to manual hubs still have their old axle nut they would be willing to part with??? I really need one, and I can't see giving the dealer $60 for it. It is for the 3 bolt auto hubs only which needs a large hex socket tool to remove it, (it is NOT the standard dana 44 nut with the 4 notches in the sides used on the 5 bolt auto hubs). If anyone has one PM me.
Thanks
Brian
PS - Truck (94 xlt) recently started shuddering on hwy whenever power is applied at approx 50-55mph, slower than that it is fine, faster it is fine too, e4od was rebuilt 45k miles ago, seems very transmission related (only when power applied to drivetrain, not when coasting at said speeds). Anyone else have this.
Thanks
Brian

Check the double-cardon U-joint at the front of the rear D/S. This symptom sounds familiar. Could also be pinion related problem in the rear end. these vibrations will travel thoughout the driveline and make pinpointing them difficult.
Shudder could also be the lockup clutch in the torque converter slipping. While it is doing it, tap the brake pedal to disengage the clutch. If the shudder stops, you've located the problem. If you have a tach, you can also watch it, should see the rpms rise about 100-200 when shuddering (slipping), and drop back down when the converter locks up tight. Mine has been doing this for a while, just haven't fixed it yet.
